馃挍A presentation about Decolonizing world language education馃挍

Reflection about the topic: The presentation was really interesting, at the beginning I was confused with the information they were explained but afterward I started to understand better the principal focus of the presentation. They explained concepts such as hegemonism of language, homogeneity, lingua franca, and language war; the topics have a direct relation with globalization, and they explained how the countries' power makes invalid languages that represent cultures and societies. I think the topic is really necessary to focus our attention on our reality and the impact that have power in the recognition of societies and cultures, more than that, the necessity of being conscious about the multicultural status of many countries around the world that are forgotten due to the invisibilisation of their people and culture. From the presentation, I could understand better the importance of indigenous cultures and languages, the contribution they have made for many years to history, and the necessity to not lose their legacy.

Personal Reflection what you can do as a teacher: The most important contribution I can share with my students is the thought of respect and recognition to the minimized societies that are part of our development, we can't blind our eyes from this problem, we have to be conscious on the lost we're having, we have to look for solutions and apply them to stop this situation; that's why our classes have to explore this topic and we have an important role on saving those languages, cultures, and societies. If our students could recognize their importance, the solution will be nearer because the only thing that could improve this situation is that more people start to understand the value and the influence of those societies in our history, daily life, and growth.
